Tuesday 24th October
I had to return the Ambeo and F4 to the kit room, so as I mentioned in the previous week, I decided to get some recordings done in the evening.
Since the set up is quite tedious to carry around, I recorded at my house. First, I went to the end of my hallway to record the sound of my door opening and closing. I feel like it can be used in a vastly different context due to the way the hallway modified it.
Next, I decided to take a walk around my floor to one of the many elevators, focusing on my footsteps and the acoustics the hall provided. I heard someone messing around with their door. Walking around with the F4 is very suspicious.
So I quickly got into the elevator, which took me to the ground floor but unfortunately, the F4 was going to die so I had to move fast. Walking around the building I managed to pick up some decent sounds; trash blowing along the ground, people talking, cars going by, real city sounds. As I got back to the door the F4 died but the recording was thankfully saved.
All of this in collaboration with the Sound Hour installation I looked at last week gave me an idea that I may put forward for my project.
