For this project, I Will be working alongside Amani and my friend Alexa to document the process of the creation of a musical project (perhaps a album or ep) My role will be to provide vocals for the beats that Amani creates. On top of this, I will be researching voice or aspects of voice in sound arts. As mentioned before, Amani will be in charge of creating beats for me to perform over. Alexa will be documenting the entire process through recordings and editing the footage. Instead of creating an original score the ‘conventional’ way, Amani will then take the audio from the clips recorded by Alexa and create a score from said clips.
I call this digital recycling, as we are using something we have created (the footage, with everything we’ve said, played etc) for a different purpose (the score) which is just sampling in a sense, but it feels like more than that to me.
This idea mainly came from the last few weeks where I have worked with Caleb, a music production student in the first year, as well as some other friends of mine creating and distributing music. There were plans to document those works, but there was too many complications, so now I will try to complete this project with Alexa and Amani.
