Reworking my project.

I realised that my initial idea didn’t have a critical element to it so I’ve decided to rework my idea. Instead of focusing on the album, lovers rock and my brother in laws dancehall experience, I will focus on songs from the Caribbean that have strong messages of peace and justice for all, discussing them with my mother. It will have a primary focus on the works and history of Bob Marley and the Wailers in the 1960s to 1980s.

With all that is happening in the world right now, I often see people on social media talking about how celebrities should speak up, especially musicians. I make money from music as a DJ, so I feel like that responsibility falls onto me as well. When I began DJing my mum suggested I look into the music from Jamaica. When I was growing up, I barely engaged with that sound, listening to up rap and rnb in the 2000s whereas my mum grew up with the aforementioned lovers rock and reggae in the 70s.

As I mentioned in my first blog, I will still have the same structure but it will most likely be a back and forth conversation between me and my mum. I will also go over the conflict in Jamaica many years ago and how music was used to try and combat the conflict.

Over the next few days, I will find a few media that supports this topic my audio paper
