Tuesday 10th October
I had fallen sick this week so I couldn’t attend class. In the time I had used a recorder to document one of my days while at home. I went and sat on my balcony (with my cat) to Record some ambience and also a response to a task set out by Milo. However, as I was on my balcony, one of my neighbours began to play the piano which reminded me of the times in lockdown where we had to stay indoors. I decided to do a little audio diary, reminiscing on the time I spent engaging with my neighbours, sonically, during the height of the COVID pandemic.
When I was finally relieved of my illness, I returned my original recorder, the zoom H5, and rented out a Sennheiser Ambeo and A Zoom F4. Once I brought them back home, I wanted to record outdoors but it was quite late so I tried something a bit strange.
I had my Amazon Alexa play some pikachu voice lines and music, I then called a friend and had him talk to me over the phone and in between all of that I spoke. The goal was to have multiple inputs at all angles of the mic. It wasn’t perfect but it worked.
In the subsequent weeks, I will continue to use the Ambeo to record outside, and will document my findings here.
