Monday 9th October
This week, we looked at the opening to We Need To Talk About Kevin, in particular, the opening and creating a foley track for it. After a briefing from Jessica, we watched the clip, but then we went into the foley lab with Rory to learn how to set up and utilise the sound lab for foley work. Once everyone had seen the lab, we went back to it to record some foley for the opening scene. Zaron was in the room making the sounds and Declan was in the lab monitoring him, along with everyone else, letting him know what to do. It Is a very interesting process. Watching someone recreate sounds, the bouncing of ideas, the actions, the feedback and the outcome.
We were supposed to find time to go to the studio ourselves to work on our clips individually, I was paired up with Gabriel and Sun, but unfortunately we couldn’t find the time.
In the 3rd week, we actually managed to go to the studio, joined by Jason and Aparna. I did most of the foley which was a really cool experience. I would have liked to work on pro tools itself, but I didn’t have a chance. Next time we have a foley session, I will try to work on the pro tools side of things.
